FIREFIGHTERS from Newport tackled a fire in a chip shop on Stow Hill this afternoon.
Three crews from Maindee, Malpas and Duffryn attended the fire after receiving the call at 4.57pm.
South Wales Fire and Rescue said two breathing apparatus were used as well as CO2 extinguishers and water carriers.
A spokesman for the fire service said the fire spread to external ducting. No one was injured.
