A MAN was rescued from a flat fire in Cwmtillery on Sunday night.
Fire crews from Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale, Abercarn and Abertillery were called to the scene on Valley View at 10.52pm.
A South Wales Fire Service spokeswoman said one man was rescued and taken to hospital.
She added the flat suffered severe damage, and that adjacent flats also suffered heavy smoke damage.
Fire crews used breathing apparatus, positive pressure ventilation, two hose reels and a safety jet to tackle the blaze.
Fire investigators are now looking into how the fire started.
A spokeswoman from the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.52pm on Sunday, May 24, to a fire at an address on Valley View in Cwmtillery.
“We sent two emergency ambulances to the scene, and one person was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital.”
