The Six Villages - Brynawel, Cwmfelinfach, Wattsville, Wyllie, Ynysddu and Gelligroes.
Easter at CYT Care Home: Craig-y-Trwyn Care Home in Brynawel celebrated Easter with an bonnet competition.
The residents worked hard to make a lovely display of bonnets.
Steve the activities co-ordinator and Cath the manager gave prizes of chocolates to the winners.
Many of the residents' families were visiting and joined the fun.
Smoking Ban introduced: Pubs and clubs are complying with the new laws, and some are planning smoking shelters.
However, there are fears inclement weather could see people complain about going outside to smoke.
Here are some comments: Progressive Club, Ynysddu: Members of the committee painted and decorated the bar to herald the new laws. Steward of the club Brian Watkins said it is nice to have clean air in the club.
Haven on the Hill, Cwmfelinfach: The stewardess said there were no problems. Members were warned in advance and seemed to accept it.
Jubilee Club, Wattsville: With limited ground around the club, Ken Roderick, secretary, has asked for advice from the council on the best site for a smoking shelter.
Pioneer, Cwmfelinfach: New landlady Sarah and her partner Rory took over the Pioneer just as the new smoking laws came in.
Sarah says regulars are complaining it is cold going outside to smoke and it has stopped a few coming.
Ynysddu Rugby Club: No problems in the rugby club. Lawson Short, the club secretary, says smoking was banned in September last year and members are very supportive.
Siloh Chapel: Did you know Siloh Chapel has been at the heart of Gelligroes and the surrounding area for almost two centuries?
It was built in 1813 and its claim to fame is that Aneurin Fardd, tutor of the great Welsh poet, Islwyn, worshipped here in the 19th century.
Nearly 200 years later, Siloh is still serving the local communities of Gelligroes, Wyllie and Pontllanfraith.
On Sundays there is a family service at 11am and an evening service at 6pm.
For more information on Siloh, call the Reverend Diane Notley on 01633 673826.
Ynysddu Primary: The school is collecting Computers for Schools vouchers from Tesco and is appealing for help from parents and local residents to help land ace equipment for pupils.
You are entitled to one for every £10 you spend - so make sure you collect them, even if you do not have a child at the school.
Last year Ynysddu primary exchanged them for educational robots, this year the school aims to reach the target for a high-tech digi-blue camera.
If you want to donate your vouchers, please hand them into the school.
Babel Chapel: To commemorate the 75th year of the poet Islwyn's birth, the Local Sirhowy Valley Partnership will present a workshop in Cwmfelinfach Community Hall on Monday, April 30, from 6pm.
There will be a slide show about Babel and its importance to the community.
We invite people who know the chapel well, local historians and those who just want to find out more.
Ynysddu Youth Club: The clubhouse has been closed for maintenance work for a number of weeks.
However, due to the determination of the youth leaders, they have kept the club going by meeting the children in the schoolyard and arranging activities and trips with the children.
It has been hard going, but all the youth workers Kirsty, Alun, Colin and Gareth have all pulled together to make sure that the children have had somewhere to go.
Playing football by Floodlights: At last the floodlights in the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) in Ynysddu have been installed and turned on.
The lights will come on every evening as soon as it goes dark and turn off at 9pm.
Alun Prosser, a youth leader in Ynysddu for many years, says young people are making full use of the floodlights and are playing football on the MUGA every night.
At the moment the evenings are getting lighter, but the greatest benefit will be seen next autumn when the children will be able to play on the MUGA all evening.
