EMERGENCY services were called to a deliberate fire on Park Street in Blaenavon in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A Gwent Police spokesman said that two vehicles, a BMW Z3 and a VW Golf Mk 3 GTI, which were owned by one person, were destroyed by the fire that started at around 3.30am.
The fire also nearly spread to a nearby garage.
Max Edmunds, 18, was driving on the main road when he saw the smoke from the fire.
“It was quite a big fire and could have spread to one of the houses,” he said.
“It was quite close to the town as well.”
A South Wales Fire Service spokesman said that two breathing apparatus and two hose reels were used to tackle the blaze.
Crews from Blaenavon and Abersychan attended the scene.
A spokesman from Gwent Police said the fire was believed to have been deliberately started and appealed for anyone with information to come forward and call 101 quoting the log number 7/6/2015.
