POLICE are set to visit primary schools in Caerleon warning about ‘stranger danger’ after a man in a white van approached two school children last week.
The two girls from Charles Williams Church in Wales Primary School, aged 10 and 11, were approached near the roundabout by Sainsbury’s Local on High Street at around 4pm on Thursday, June 4.
A spokesman from Gwent Police said the girls were approached by a man in a small white van who asked them if they would like to get in the van.
The girls said "no" and went into the Sainsbury’s store to ask if their mothers could be called.
The man is described as 40-50 years old with blond or brown hair and white with a tanned complexion.
A police spokesman said they attended the scene and searched the area.
“We are carrying out enquiries into it and are in contact with the school,” he said.
“There have been no other reports received.”
He added: “We are also conducting patrols around the area and visiting local schools to reiterate lessons on stranger danger.”
If anyone has any information they are asked to contact 101 quoting the log number 312 4/6/2015.
