POLICE are warning residents about a cigarettes scam after a woman was tricked into handing over £50 in Cwmbran town centre.
The 79-year-old woman was approached by a man who offered her 400 cigarettes for £50 at around 2.30pm on Sunday, June 7.
She followed him to Monmouth House and handed over the money, but he disappeared after saying he would be back shortly with the cigarettes.
If anyone else has been approached in this way, they are asked to call 101 quoting log number 360 7/6/15
