BURSARIES to help people train in heritage horticulture are available at Belle Vue Park in Newport.
The opportunity is being provided by the Heritage Horticulture Skills Scheme (HHSS) following a successful launch of its new qualification at the RHS Malvern Spring Festival.
At least 12 bursaries are on offer at a number of the scheme’s member gardens including Belle Vue Park, as well as Aberglasney in Carmarthenshire, Dyffryn Gardens in the Vale of Glamorgan and St Fagans in Cardiff.
The LANTRA level three heritage horticulture award qualification has been developed by HHSS and combines an understanding of plant life and gardening with a thorough knowledge of history.
Trainees who take up the bursary, which is available for a temporary period only, will undergo a three to four-month course, starting in June or July for completion in November.
