THE Queen will present new colours The Royal Welsh at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff today.
The infantry regiment formed in 2006 after the merger of the Royal Welch Fusiliers and the Royal Regiment of Wales.
The ceremony to present new colours will be the final formal recognition of The Royal Welsh.
The Queen - who is expected to arrive at Cardiff Central Station by Royal Train ahead of the ceremony - will also address the regiment, which has served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and meet soldiers and their families.
She will stay for lunch with a menu including items such as organic salmon, Welsh lamb, Pembrokeshire potato fondant and Halen Mon salted caramel cream.
The day will also see 600 soldiers march from Cardiff Castle along St Mary Street before ending up at the stadium.
Regimental Adjutant of The Royal Welsh, Captain Ben Phillips, said the Millennium Stadium was a fantastic venue for such a historic occasion.
"As military parades go this will almost certainly be one of the best examples of Welsh pride and support for military forces in Wales," he added.
"As a regiment we would encourage as many members of the Welsh public to attend. It should be quite a show."
Tickets for the event inside the stadium cost £5. All profits will go to their regimental charities Ty Hafan, The Army Benevolence Fund, The Royal British Legion and the Motivation Learning Trust, all of whom operate in Wales.
