THE winner of the ‘Best Dressed Lady’ competition at Chepstow Racecourse’s Ladies Evening race meeting, walked away £1000 richer, and is making plans to spend the money on a shopping spree.
Amy Williams of Morriston, Swansea, scooped the prize by wowing the judges with her elegant outfit.
Amy, who works for Admiral, purchased the outfit specifically for the competition in the hope of winning first prize.
The competition was judged by an esteemed panel, which included Charlotte Watkins, marketing manager for Peacocks, Vicky Bell, brand manager for Jane Norman, Nataly Upton, group sales director for ARC, and world famous fashion designer, David Emanuel.
The winner saw off stiff competition from around 200 ladies to win the prestigious award, for which first prize was £1,000, second prize was a voucher provided by Jane Norman, and third was a voucher provided by Peacocks.
Further prizes included additional vouchers and tickets to the Madness concert racenight at Chepstow Racecourse on July 10.
Commenting on the win, Amy Williams said: “I was really nervous, as I am usually quite shy and have never entered a competition like this before. It was a fantastic evening and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I even had a few winners to add to the first prize, which is not bad as it is my first time at the races!
“It was lovely to meet David Emanuel, especially as he said I looked like Kate Middleton!”
Ladies Evening saw a crowd of thousands enjoy eight thrilling races, followed by a DJ set from Sara Cox, who wowed the racegoers with a mix of classic 80s tunes.
Commenting on the meeting, Executive Director of Chepstow Racecourse, Phil Bell, said: “Ladies Evening has firmly established itself as a highlight of the summer social calendar, providing visitors with the perfect excuse to get dressed and head to Chepstow for a great day at the races.
“We were delighted to have secured radio DJ Sara Cox to play at the racecourse, and were pleased to see how well the set was received by the crowd.
“Our next concert racenight is on July 10 when Madness return to the racecourse. Tickets are available on the website, or by calling 01291 622260.”
