A BIKE ride in memory of a Cwmbran man took place yesterday (Sun), with all proceeds going to Bristol Children’s Hospital’s bone marrow transplant unit.
Kevin Morgan, 60, died at the scene of the collision with a black convertible BMW Z4 on the A449 outside Newport, just off the Coldra roundabout, on June 21 last year.
He had been riding his white Kawasaki motorbike at the time.
To mark a year since his death, members of his family organised a memorial bike ride to the Black Mountains, which was Mr Morgan’s favourite spot.
Around 100 bikes took part, departing from South Wales Superbikes at Queensway Meadows in Newport at noon before making their way through Caerleon, Usk and Abergavenny.
Mr Morgan’s sister, Diane Hucklebridge, 56, said: “We’re still devastated and we’ll never get over what happened, but it was like Kevin was with us today.
“He was an incredible man.”
Mr Morgan’s brother, Mike Morgan, 54, said: “We drove past the road where he was killed and you’ll never get rid of that feeling.
“But, we’ve had lots of support and Kevin had friends from all over.
“Lots of people have helped and when something bad happens, you have to try and make something good out of it."
One of Mr Morgan’s other brothers, Robert Morgan, 51, added: “With the amount of bikes here, you can tell so many people cared about him.
“I went everywhere with Kevin and we had nothing but good times together. I still miss him terribly.”
