A CEREAMIC poppy has been stolen from the grave of a Second World War solider in Blaenavon.
In May this year, Isabell Amor, 64, placed a ceramic poppy on the grave of her father and mother, John Williams and Mary Jones.
But on June 6, she reported the £25 poppy stolen to the police.
The poppy was from the artistic installation called Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, which saw the Tower of London's moat filled with over 800,000 ceramic poppies in commemoration for the First World War Centenary.
She felt it was fitting to place the item on the grave in Blaenavon cemetery on Varteg Road as her father had been a soldier in the Second World War and a prisoner of war.
She said: “We have always placed flowers on his grave since his death in 1961 and we have not ever had any trouble.
“This is the first time that we have placed an ornament there and I just hope that whoever took it will just place it back if they know how important it is to me.”
Gwent Police confirmed that they received a call from Ms Amor on June 6 reporting the theft.
A spokeswoman said officers are investigating and ask that anyone with information relating to this calls 101 quoting log 148 06/06/15.
