A 27- year- old Newport man in a black BMW has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs and is currently in police custody.

Gwent Police received a call at 7.16am after the car collided with traffic lights on Corporation Road.

UPDATE: 8.57am

A SINGLE vehicle accident is causing heavy traffic around Corporation Road in Newport this morning after it hit a set of traffic lights.

Cromwell Road is blocked due to heavy traffic. The traffic is affecting Newport Bus services 42/43 and 44.
