A CAT rescued from a car engine in Newport has now returned home after spending the night in the vets.
Her owner, Rachael Trapp, feared she would have to have all her fur shaved off as she was covered in oil.
Three-year-old Poppy had been rescued by Duffryn fire service crews after she was trapped in the engine compartment of a car in Gwenddwr Grange Close, Newport, on Monday afternoon.
But after spending Tuesday night in the vets she has now been allowed to return home.
Miss Trapp said: "The fantastic team at Vets4Pets Newport worked really hard on Poppy and managed to save her fur.
"She looks as good as new. She also has minor injuries to her back and back legs, from where she was pulled from the car. These should settle within a few days."
She added: "She was a little quiet over night but seems back to her normal self today. We can't believe how lucky she was, she's definitely used one of her nine lives!
"It could of been a lot worse."
