DAY 6

I had breakfast in bed this morning delivered by Rebecca and Nicola – I had croissants, Rice Krispies (but with no milk), bananas, a muffin, strawberries. I even had 10 extra minutes in bed which was nice!

Only three lessons left before we leave and I have so much respect for Ioan and Nia. They are excellent teachers and you always have fun clapping and singing with them. 'Dwi'n bwyta brecwast' 'sibrwd' 'wedi cloi' are some of the phrases today. I just wish more of it would stick!

I think I need to have a bit of me time and look at things and take the time to get to know words and do it in my own way. But I have so much more respect for the Welsh language and I haven't really listened to it carefully and think that it's so beautiful. It has a certain melody and is so poetic and musical and sounds like something from Lord of the Rings and I think more people should take time to really listen to this ancient and beautiful language of ours.

Today's challenge was quite a touching one. We went to a local school and we had to run with the children during a sports day and much to my disappointment, I came last in the egg and spoon race. Ironically, I got spotted in my junior school by my head teacher from the egg and spoon race – and that's how I found my talent and it was funny to go back today to find that I'd regressed. I also lost the sack race!

One child was about 10 and he played rugby with Tom Shanklin. It must have been a day for him to remember after playing with a Welsh International like that.

After our second lesson, I thought about who might emerge as the winner of the programme. For me, I think Nicola and Chris have shown the most progression since the start but I'd love another week here. It's intense, but at the same time it's flown by.

We'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see.
