NEWPORT primary school pupils enjoyed a school trip learning about the journey of food ‘from farm to fork’ this week.
Pupils from Glan Usk Primary visited Tesco on Cardiff Road to learn about where their food comes from, how it is grown and how it’s reaches transported to the store.
They were also given the chance to make their own bread and sample cheeses from different parts of the world.
Teacher Mrs Lyndsey Mallett said it was the first time the school had visited the supermarket as part of an organised trip and that the Year Three pupils enjoyed the experience of learning about their food.
“They learnt how bread was made and all the different ingredients,” she said.
“They also had a go at making bread themselves and putting it in the oven.
She added: “They also did a shopping task to find different fruits and vegetables.”
