A FAMILY fun day was held in Torfaen on Saturday in memory of popular local man Matthew Groves.
Mr Groves, 43, who died last year, was well known in the community for operating the burger van MG’s catering and many family members, customers and friends turned out to remember him.
The event, held between 10.30am and 5.30pm at Garndiffaith RFC, offered a bouncy castle, dance groups, stalls, a barbecue, balloon race, arts and craft and a rodeo bull.
Entertaining the crowds was the band The Apple Tree Theory who performed for free.
Torfaen mayor Cllr Giles Davies attended the day and tweeted: “Fair play – the family did their late father proud.
“Really good morning and afternoon out as mayor.”
Gwen Harries, from St David’s Hospice Care, added: “Had a great day today thanks to Rhys Groves and his brilliant family. Even with a few showers everyone turned out to support and the party goes on into tonight. Thanks for your support guys and making us so welcome.”
All of the money raised will go to the St David’s Foundation, who cared for Mr Groves.
