THE iconic Grade II Newbridge memo building has been chosen as one of seven Welsh finalists in the running for a National Lottery Award.
BBC One is searching for the UK's favourite Lottery-funded projects and seven projects from Wales have made the finals, beating 620 other organisations.
The winners of each of the seven different award categories will get a £2,000 cash prize, a National Lottery Awards trophy as well as the chance to attend the awards ceremony in September.
The Newbridge Memo, a memorial hall and miner's institute, has been restored to its former glory and is now a music venue and meeting place with a new library and information centre offering learning, cultural and heritage activities for the local community.
It is in the running to be named winner of the Best Heritage Project award category. Other categories include arts, sport, health, environment, education and voluntary.
The memo now needs public votes. Voting runs for five weeks from 9am yesterday, Wednesday, June 24, until midnight on Monday, July 29.
To vote for Newbridge Memo please go to www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards or telephone 0844 836 9674.
