BLAENAVON Heritage Day went off with a bang over the weekend - embracing more visitors than last year.
Voice singer Cai Williams was among the star attractions at this year’s event.
Mr Williams, who grew up in the town and was part of Sir Tom Jones’ team on BBC1 show, captivated the crowd with a string of hits, including the James Bond theme License to Kill.
Elsewhere, the Heritage Costume Parade, an annual highlight of the event, started at 1pm Saturday from the top of Broad Street.
The theme for this year’s parade was ‘World Heritage Sites Around the World’, celebrating Blaenavon’s own World Heritage Site status, and the special cultural and natural significance of other sites across the globe.
Pupils from Blaenavon Heritage VC Primary School were among those to make costumes for the parade.
The event, which took place between 11am and 4pm, also included a Victorian fun fair, a miniature steam railway, craft stalls and special offers from local shops.
Alan Jones, councillor for Blaenavon, was among those in attendance. He said: “There was a better turnout this year and everyone has enjoyed themselves.
“It’s important to celebrate World Heritage Day and people work very hard to embrace technology and attract more visitors every year.
“The kids love it and I hope it will continue to grow every year.”
