THE OWNER of a dog alleged to have attacked a man in Tredegar is set to be interviewed by police.
Gwent Police had appealed for information after a serious dog attack at Tafarnabach Industrial Estate in Tredegar on Thursday, June 18, which left a 47-year-old Tredegar man requiring hospital treatment.
A police spokesman said the victim is continuing to recover from his injuries, and since the appeal the owner of the dog who attacked the victim has contacted police. He will now attend a police station for interview.
The victim, who was walking his own dog at approximately 7.30am, was attacked by a Staffordshire type bull terrier which had been let off its lead by the owner. The dog then attacked the owner who left the scene with the dog. The owner is described as mid 50’s or possibly early 60’s of age, white male, with thick grey hair. The dog was described a large and dark in colour or possibly a very dark brindle colour.
The victim suffered injuries to his thumb, ankle and leg and was taken to Morriston Hospital where he has had to undergo two operations and was admitted for a period of four days.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about the owner is asked to ring 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log 88 24/06/15
