FOURTEEN pupils from Caerleon Comprehensive School returned from an exchange trip to Germany today after spending five days getting to know their exchange partners.
The 14 and 15-year-olds, who are studying for their GCSEs, played host to their German partners in October last year when they showed them the sites of South Wales including St Fagan’s.
Last Wednesday it was the Caerleon students’ turn to visit the southern town of Heidenheim, in Germany, which is around 160 km, or 100 miles, from Munich.
Head of German at the school, Chloe Samuels, said: “It went well. We’ve had some great feedback from the students.
“The first few days they spent with their partners in the school doing different activities. They also met the mayor and had a little reception in the town hall.
“On another day they went on a high ropes climb.”
In the students’ report from the trip, which they wrote together, they said: “The weekend was spent separately with our exchange partners.
"We did all sorts of different things including shopping, going to the Steiff teddy bear museum, sports centres, music festivals and theme parks.
“On Sunday, our last night together, most of us met up and had a BBQ together to celebrate our brilliant time together. It was a great end to a great trip.”
It is the fourth year the school has been running the exchange trip.
