BREAKING NEWS: ALL lanes have now reopened on the M4 westbound between junctions 26 (Malpas) and 27 (High Cross), following a collision involving two cars.
The vehicles involved have now been moved to the hard shoulder, but traffic is still very congested, and is queuing westbound back to junction 24 (Coldra).
No-one was injured in the incident.
TWO lanes of the M4 around Newport are closed westbound following an accident involving three vehicles.
The incident happened between junctions 26 (Malpas) and 27 (High Cross) at around 8am.
Traffic is queuing on the M4 Malpas Straight westbound, and there is congestion back to junction 24 (Coldra).
Three South Wales Fire and Rescue crews are at the scene.
Traffic is also moving slowly on the Malpas Straight eastbound between junctions 27 and 26, due to people slowing to look at the accident.
Traffic is also queuing on the A4051 Malpas Road southbound towards the junction for the motorway.
