A FIFTY-two-year-old man who caused £200 worth of damage in an Abergavenny hotel room has been fined £80 and made to pay £255 in costs.
John-Paul Beavan, of Eign Road, Hereford, appeared at Cwmbran Magistrates Court earlier today and pleaded guilty to causing £200 worth of room damage at a room at the Angel Hotel.
The court heard how Beavan had met up with his estranged wife on June 15.
Wayne Crook, prosecuting, said later that evening the pair were “highly intoxicated” and following an argument Beavan caused damage to the room. Mr Crook said: “There was damage to the walls and furniture. The bedside table was on its side and the flowers and lamp on the floor.”
Later investigation found there was impact damage on two plaster board walls.
Dave Lewis, defending, said the following morning Beavan paid the hotel the £200 for the damages.
He said: “All he can do now is apologise. He did apologise to the hotel the day after.”
Beavan was given an £80 fine and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £235 in court costs.
