THE FLOWERS THAT BLOOM IN THE SPRING: This year Newport Floral Society has decided to make Growing Space their charity. It was founded in 1992 to provide support for people who have suffered, or who are suffering from mental health problems.

Clients are currently able to gain work in two key areas - horticulture at Tredegar Park and woodwork in Pillgwenlly.

Many exciting events have been arranged to celebrate the society's sapphire anniversary.

Members enjoyed a visit to Cheltenham in March for Members' Day, and this month there will be a return visit to Thorbury for a salmon lunch. Some members have been invited to do some flower arrangements at the Mansion House for the Mayor's Coffee Morning. Look out for June and July details in Grassroots.

W.A.L.K: There are short, led walks twice weekly which offer healthy exercise, good company and local information. Remaining walks in April include Christchurch, Morgan's Pond and long and short walks along the riverside.
