A HOUSE fire in Bettws was caused by an e-cigarette charging, a spokesman from the fire service has confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Humber Road at 6.45pm on Monday.
A spokesman from the fire service said the fire was caused by an 'accidental ignition in the bedroom' and that all the people in the house had left the premises by the time they arrived at the scene.
Crews from Malpas and Maindee involving nine firefighters used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze.
A fire investigation was carried out this morning.

A spokeswoman for the fire service say they suspect the fire was caused by an e-cigarette charging.

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a house in Bettws last night.
Crews from Malpas and Maindee were called to the fire in the first floor bedroom of a house in Bettws.
Nobody was injured in the fire.
