DISAPPOINTING SHOWING: We were disappointed at the poor turn-out for the recent meeting regarding Neighbourhood Watch.
However, the Community Police will call another meeting soon, using more publicity.
DATE SET FOR THE FETE: The village fete will be held on Saturday, July 21. Once again it will be opened by David Davies, MP.
Further information will be published nearer the date.
EVERYTHING IN THE GARDEN: The village has been entered in the Best Kept Village Competition again this year. Judges will be visiting all areas, so keep an eye on your surroundings.
We hope to have some new planters in situ in time for the judging.
Entries will be expected soon for the Best Kept Garden Competition. Forms will be available from the Community Council at Cwmbran, or locally.
I will be calling round to encourage previous winners and new entrants.
IT'S NOT TRUE: I want to re-assure everyone that rumours about a re-habilitation centre are incorrect. Doctors at the medical centre confirm that this has never been considered.
MAST APPLICATION: A letter has been received regarding a pre-application consultation with the Community Council for a proposed base station, to provide communications in Ponthir.
This means T-Mobile are attempting to secure a suitable site for a mobile radio base station. The suggestion is to site the phone mast on land at Candwr Road, Ponthir.
We will be making further enquiries and will keep you informed at all stages. Be aware that a public meeting may be called at short notice.
