BEER lovers in Newport will now be able to enjoy a new craft beer destination when Tiny Rebel opens its first bar in the city this winter.
The new bar on the High Street will be the second bar for the award winning brewery who opened the Urban Tap House on Cardiff’s Westgate Street two years ago. The bar will stretch over two floors and will create 20 jobs.
The existing unit will undergo an extensive refurbishment to replicate the Urban Tap House casual feel and renovations will extend into the basement of the Newport Market building to create a large ground floor bar and Cwtch lounge area within the basement.
It will be home to more than 60 different independent beers, making it the largest selection of any beers available in any pub or bar in Newport. It will also be stocking all of Tiny Rebel’s beers including the award winning, Champion Beer of Britain, Cwtch.
The new bar will be in the same location as the successful pop up which the business launched back in May this year.
Bradley Cummings, director of Tiny Rebel, said: “It has always been part of our business plan to open a bar in Newport. It is our hometown and where our brewery is based so we are pleased to have a permanent bar here.
“Our pop up bar that we launched for a month earlier this year was more successful than we hoped and we realised there is a real appetite for good, independent beers in Newport. "
Gareth Williams, also a director of Tiny Rebel said, “While the new bar will have the same look and feel as our Cardiff venue we were keen that it has its own personality and offer our Newport customers something different. For example, while we are known for our paired down burger menu in Cardiff, our menu here will be based on a dirty American BBQ style with an Italian twist. So, expect, pizzas, unhealthy salads and loaded pastas.”
It is hoped that the bar will be open at the end of November.
