SIXTY-FIVE YEARS WED: A couple from the Gaer celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Maureen and Eddie Fisher, of Stelvio Park Court, were married on March 21, 1942, at St John's Church, Maindee, aged 21 and 24 respectively.
Four days later, Mrs Fisher waved her new husband goodbye as he went to fight in the Second World War in the Royal Artillery.
Three years later, after Mr Fisher survived stints in Algiers, Tunisia and Italy, the couple were reunited.
They went on to have one daughter, Lorraine, 59, and have three grandsons, and one great-grandson.
Mrs Fisher, 86, and her husband, 89, were "delighted" to have reached the milestone.
