THANKS TO SPAR: The Spar store on Caerleon Road is contributing to the Spar Care in the Community project by making donations of £250 to two local organisations.
The St Julian's Senior Citizens' Club will use their donation for kitchen equipment at the Orchard Lane clubhouse, while St Julian's Methodist Church will put the sum towards redecoration.
Sue Oates, the store manager, said that Spar is delighted to be able to help the local community.
CARETAKER RETIRES: Bernard Baker has been the caretaker at St Julian's School for over 16 years.
He has been a very loyal, hard working employee, becoming a well-known character around the school.
His numerous skills and enthusiasm have been crucial in keeping the school in good repair.The school wishes him every happiness in his well deserved retirement but look forward to seeing him back.
