FIVE fire crews were called to fight a blaze at a Newport house last night as the people were still inside the building.
The firefighters were sent to Chapel Road in Goldcliff at 10.13pm after the fire broke out a two-storey house after starting in its roof.
At the height of the blaze firefighters from Maindee, Malpas, Duffryn, New Inn and Caldicot were attending to it.
On arrival, the firefighters confirmed all the occupants were safely out of the house and requested an additional fire engine to help tackle the blaze.
Investigators will visit the property this morning to establish a cause for the fire.
A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said no one was injured.
