ISLWYN MP Chris Evans has praised a top-flight valleys rugby club and called on constituents to show their support.
The Labour MP recently visited Crosskeys Rugby Club at its Pandy Park headquarters to hand over a donation and was presented with a black and silver club tie as a thanks for his support.
Mr Evans said: “Crosskeys RFC are a true valleys rugby success story.
“I am delighted and very grateful to have been presented with a club tie.
“We are often distracted by the national championships but clubs like Crosskeys show that true grassroots rugby is still alive and kicking.
“Every rugby club needs home supporters and I call on my constituents to attend and cheer on their local teams at matches.
“Welsh Rugby has a legendary tradition and it all starts with local clubs.”
Crosskeys Rugby Club currently plays in the Principality Premiership – Wales’ premier division.
