Chief inspector Carl Williams of Gwent Police said the man, who was a climber, is in a 'serious but stable condition.' The climber has been airlifted to hospital.

EMERGENCY services are currently carrying out a rescue of a man who has fallen near the Wye Valley Walk route outside Tintern.
Fire crews from Monmouth, Chepstow, Ebbw Vale, Barry and two from Gloucester are currently near the Tintern Lower Wyndcliffe car park.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said they received a call at 11.22am and sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
The man is believed to be in his late 20's.
Gwent Police are also in attendance.
A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said they were called at 11.32am.
