HAVE CHEQUE, WILL TRAVEL: Recently the Ponthir Retired People's Club were awarded a cheque for £2,020 by Awards for All Wales, to be spent on travelling costs for the members of the club.
The cheque was presented by the deputy mayor of Torfaen Borough Council, Cllr Nye James, at an afternoon meeting of the members at the Village Hall, in Ponthir.
The Club were grateful to Mr Peter Kennedy and his team from Torfaen Voluntary Alliance for their help with the obtaining the Grant.
The first outing to be paid for out of the grant will be to Lacock Abbey, in Wiltshire, on June 27.
