HUNDREDS of visitors took a step back in time on Saturday to enjoy some old delights on offer at a vintage day in Pontypool.

Traders took over the town’s indoor market to sell a variety of wares, from vintage furniture and cothes, to memorabilia.

Also on display at the event were vinyls of yesteryear, as well as a range of classic cars from bygone days.

Elvis tribute artist Dean Mack, famous for appearing on hit comedy Gavin and Stacey, provided the entertainment with his take on the King’s classics.

Keen young eyes were also rewarded following a ‘Find The Elvis Treasure Hunt’, which took place throughout the town, along with face painting and glitter tattoos.

Organised by community group Friends of Pontypool Town, Torfaen County Borough Council supported the vintage showcase.

Nikola Masters, chairwoman of the Pontypool friends group said: “The reason we choose vintage days is because I think it reflects the town due to it having a lot of old buildings in the centre.

“We put these events on to try and get the community back into Pontypool and it’s just a way of trying to inject some fun back into the town.”
