TORFAEN residents are being invited to have their say on a proposed legal order tackling antisocial behaviour in Cwmbran car parks.
The Torfaen Community Safety Partnership is proposing a ‘Public Spaces Protection Order’ which would allow anyone breaching its terms to be considered for arrest and prosecution.
Torfaen council’s website says the order is in response to a nuisance at certain sites in Cwmbran town centre and that concerns have been raised by residents who use these areas on a daily basis.
The order would be rolled out in car parks in Cwmbran town centre, Morrisons supermarket, St David’s Road and the Oasis car park at Edlogan Way subject to a public consultation.
Under the order, unlawful use of the car parks would include making noise, consuming alcohol, antisocial activities and drug possession/use.
The consultation is open and there are two drop-in sessions at the Congress Theatre on Wednesday, September 21 and Wednesday, September 28 between 9am and 12 noon.
