FLOOD warnings are in force for the River Wye at Chepstow and Tintern, ahead of high tide this evening.
Environment agency Natural Resources Wales is reporting that high tide in Newport will be at 9.15pm, in Chepstow 25 minutes later, and in Tintern at 10pm.
It is scheduled to reach 7.6 metres in Newport. This morning's high tide reached 7.2m.
The warnings were issued early this afternoon, and are intended to indicate that flooding is expected, and immediate action is required.
Flood alerts - indicating that flooding is possible and people in the affected areas should be prepared - were issued yesterday for the Wye in Monmouthshire generally, and for the Usk estuary, and will remain in force until at least tomorrow evening's high tide.
