WE hope the reaction to today’s launch of our We’re Backing Newport campaign is as positive as the intentions behind it.
There will no doubt be those who will find something to complain about, and that’s fine. Everyone is welcome to their opinions.
But we hope most people will recognise that celebrating the great things about our city is something to support.
Some of the organisations supporting the campaign are major players in the city.
But We’re Backing Newport is not just about them, grateful as we are for their support.
It is a campaign for everyone who lives, works and does business in Newport.
And over the next few months we will be highlighting the positive impact individuals have on Newport.
There may be some of our readers outside the city who wonder what We’re Backing Newport has to do with them.
Everything, is the answer to that question.
As Wales’ third biggest city, Newport has an influence far beyond its boundaries.
No town or city survives and thrives as an independent entity.
All our fortunes are intertwined and a successful Newport is good for the greater Gwent area.
Let’s be positive.
