DINERS in a Newport restaurant will be blindfolded while they eat to raise money for Guide Dogs.

On Wednesday, October 5, Drago Lounge at Friars Walk will host a Guide Dogs' Dine in the Dark event.

The lights will be dimmed and diners will be invited to put on blindfolds before tucking into a two-course meal. The multi-sensory experience, with different tastes, touches and sounds, is designed to help people understand how it feels to live with sight loss.

Organiser Frank Greig said: “Diners will be surprised how much we take simple things for granted, like going to a restaurant. For people with visual impairments, even eating a meal can be hard.

“This is a brilliant way to get people thinking a little differently and to raise awareness of the work of Guide Dogs.

“It could be messy, but it will be fun.”

The event will start at 7pm with tapas, followed by a choice of five different main courses: buttermilk fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, lounge burger, Thai spiced quinoa burger or hot smoked salmon fishcakes.

Tickets for the event are £20, including entry to a raffle, and all proceeds will go to Guide Dogs Cymru.

To book, ring Frank Greig on 07766 367081 or Hilary Lester on 01633 668949.
