CHEPSTOW Castle was the finishing point of an 870-mile walk across Wales by two Welsh-born sisters who now live in Los Angeles.
Rachael and Hayley Williams, who left Wales when they were toddlers, started walking the Wales Coast Path on June 15 on a journey inspired by their late grandmother from Cardiff.
During their walk, the pair, now aged 29 and 27 respectively, raised money for the charity Age Cymru and reconnected with their Welsh heritage by visiting historic and cultural sites along the way.
Staff from Age Cymru and trustees from Age Cymru Gwent joined Rachael and Hayley for the last nine mile leg of their journey which began at Caldicot Castle.
The walkers were welcomed at Chepstow Castle by the mayor of Chepstow, Councillor Paul Pavia and members of Rachael and Hayley’s family.
“It was a real privilege to walk the last leg of Rachael and Hayley’s walk with them," said Victoria Lloyd, of Age Cymru.
"Since we first met them in early June, everyone at Age Cymru really took to the sisters and we’ve come to consider them close friends of the charity."
Age Cymru is committed to achieving an age friendly Wales where older people have equal rights to respect, opportunities and the same access to services as the rest of the population.
