FOOD lovers are invited to this weekend’s Monmouthshire Food Festival for a variety of feasts and delights.
The autumn festival, which is the second annual event in the festival’s calendar after the spring food fest, takes place at Caldicot Castle and Country Park on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9.
Around 2,500 people came to the spring festival, and organiser Charlotte Greig is hoping for another fun-filled event.
Mrs Greig said: “We had more people at this spring’s food festival than last year and we had people coming from everywhere, not just from across Monmouthshire, which is great.
“We would like to put Monmouthshire on the map. We have the best county with the best produce and the best food so what more can you ask for?”
Featuring local produce from across the county, this weekend’s festival will have cooking demonstrations from local chefs, including the chef patron of the Michelin starred Abergavenny restaurant Shaun Hill, who will be based in the Demonstration Theatre.
Demonstrating in the theatre as well as Mr Hill is Charles Rouse, who is the chef patron for the Chainbridge Inn which is based near Usk. Guests watching Mr Rouse are expected to see molecular gastronomy used in his cooking style, as he used to work for Heston Blumenthal.
The event will also have a Children’s Quarter hosted by the Monmouthshire Youth Service where there will be lots of activities to engage, entertain and educate younger visitors.
Tickets cost £5 for adults with children under the age of 12 going free, and the festival is on from 10am to 4.30pm on both days.
