A NEWPORT nan celebrated her 98th birthday in style with her five-generation family.
Doreen Jones, who lives in The Fields Nursing Home in Newport, enjoyed drinks and cake with 12 family members, including her youngest great-great-grandchild Ellis Kenny, aged four.
As well as holding a party for Mrs Jones, the family also celebrated five generations of the family, with 93 years between Mrs Jones and Ellis.
Granddaughter Nicola Cobb, of Somerton, Newport, said the day was great and it was wonderful to toast to her nan’s birthday and get a picture of the five generations of her family.
She said: “We have never all been together at the same time before, so I just had to get a picture of the five generations.
“It was lovely, a really lovely day, even though not everyone could come due to work commitments or other things.
“We spent the afternoon together in the garden at the nursing home and had a few bottles of prosecco as well.”
Miss Cobb, 44, said that all of the family have been brought up, and have always lived in Newport, apart from one of her aunties who moved up to the Wirral.
“We are a very close knit family and we have always been close,” Miss Cobb said.
“We have lots of memories and I go to see my nan regularly. She’s a Newport girl through and through.
“It was great to celebrate together,” she added.
