A CHEPSTOW man who is one of the directors of a furniture shop that recently opened a branch in Newport has said the city is on the rise.
Dale Powell, 54, is one of the directors at The Furniture Store, a Chepstow-based business that opened a branch in Malpas Road a few weeks ago.
Mr Powell said: “Newport is changing and is on the rise, we believe that opening our store in Malpas is a great move for us as a company.“There’s a lot more development in the city centre right now and we thought it was time for us to be in Newport.”
The Furniture Store, which has had stores in Chepstow town and a furniture outlet in Bulwark, has been trading for five and a half years.
It is sharing its Newport branch with The Leather Sofa Company.

Mr Powell said they opened a couple of weeks ago and that’s going well so far and hope the people of Newport will show us their support.
He said: “We are a small company that prides ourselves on our customer service and our quality furniture. We at The Furniture Store are here to provide the people of Newport and surrounding areas quality oak, pine and painted furniture at internet prices with friendly attentive service.”
The store, which stocks bedroom, living and dining furniture, specialises on oak and pine furniture at a discounted price.
In addition to oak, pine and painted ranges, They also stock something a bit different like mahogany, vintage and aluminium.
Their prices and quality are second to none.
He said:“Once furniture is purchased and is in stock, we can deliver with seven days. We aim to continue our growth by selling great furniture at great prices to the people of Newport.”
