AN EMPTY city centre shop is set to be transformed into a dessert house.
Kaspa’s will be offering ice creams, waffles, crepes, milkshakes, smoothies and sundaes to shoppers, with its store due to open in the former New Look shop in Commercial Street, Newport.
A Kaspa’s banner has gone up above the shop stating ‘opening soon’ and builders at the site told the Argus shop fitters would be arriving next week.
Father-of-two Kieran Farrer, of Caerphilly, said he is excited to see the dessert house coming to Newport.
“I go to the store in Cardiff with my family so it will be nice to have one in Newport,” he said.
“It’s always busy and we enjoy visiting.”
Paul Murphy, founder of Pride in Pill, said the new store was good news for the city.
“I go to the one in Cardiff with my daughter but to have one in Newport can only be good news,” he said.
