SIT down metalheads, and relax. Yes, it was seats-only for this landmark date with these geniuses of the metal genre. And it worked.
No swirling moshpits and surfing teenagers, just a night of sublime guitarship, tight drumming, soaring vocals and catchy licks of synth.
The gig was split into two parts, opening with old favourites such as Dark Eternal Night, Bigger Picture, Hell's Kitchen and Breaking All Illusions.
Frontman James LaBrie regaled fans with a tale of mistaking Wales for England ('saw that one coming' I laughed/sighed to my grinning companion) and plenty of banter, at least while he was on stage.
I say on stage for the chirpy Ontarian would disappear behind a mountain of amps every other track or so when guitarist John Petrucci showcased his almost unreal solo talents. Petrucci is the Lionel Messi of the axe, end of.
Part two was the show's raison d'etre, the entire Images album, and while things dragged a little bit at times, there's no denying the pure musical theatre of tracks Another Day, Surrounded, Under A Glass Moon and Take The Time. Trance metal, if you like.
Encore was a set from another 90s album, or EP rather, A Change of Seasons, parts I-VII.
A top show from five guys who take great pride in their music, and have no shame when it comes to indulging in the 'over-the-topness' and more which Dream Theater is renowned for.
