THE brother of a much-loved Pontypool dad who died in a car crash last year, is planning a car cruise event to celebrate his life and character.

Adam Millett, of Pontypool, died following a crash between a car and a lorry in Garn Yr Erw, near Blaenavon, in October after being airlifted from the scene.

Following his death, tributes poured in for the 26- year-old with family describing him as a “wonderful daddy, son, brother and uncle”.

Ahead of the one-year anniversary of his death, his brother Tomos, is organising a car cruise on what would have been his 27th birthday.

“Every penny Adam earned was spent on his cars, he loved them,” Tomos said.

“It’s to remember him, we try and do a cruise a year and on the day we will just be parking up, all meeting up and just doing stuff Adam used to like doing”.

Since Adam’s death, his family have worked to keep his memory alive, including spraying car a yellow over a three-week period and fitting it with a registration spelling out the surname Millett.

The 16-year-old also joined #TeamMillett at Gwent’s annual Velothon cycling race, raising around £1,500 for charity Wales Air Ambulance.

The cycling team included Adam’s friend Lewis Willmott, aged 21, of Stanley Road, Garndiffaith, Lewis’s dad Richard Powell, Tomos and his cousin Gareth Jones.

Mr Millett added the end of the rally will include a lantern ceremony to pay tribute to his brother.

“I just want as many people as possible to celebrate Adam’s birthday,” he said.

The car cruise will take place on Sunday, September 24 and a Facebook page, promoting the event, has an expected 37 people attending so far.

An event description on the Facebook page adds: “It’s the time of year were we try not to be sad and want to celebrate what a wonderful person our Ad was”.
