A NEWPORT actor who starred in Torchwood and Doctor Who is set to join in celebrations for the Queen’s Baton Relay.
Bettws actor Gareth David-Lloyd, who is known to millions for his portrayal of Ianto Jones in Dr Who and Torchwood, will be coming to the city next month for the Queen’s Baton Relay. The baton holds a message from the Queen which will be travelling around the world ahead of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.
Mr David-Lloyd will be joining a host of people who will also be parading the baton through Newport on the morning of September 6 which includes Howard Mason, the event director for Parkrun Newport, Lliswerry Running Club runner Christopher Davies, Newport Social Cycling Group founder John Wheat, Dragons representative Gareth Bailey, councillor for Pill Tracey Holyoake.
Other participants include members of Newport Harriers Athletic Club including Charlotte Mitchell, 16, Kellen Jones, 17, and many more.
This event is being hosted by Newport City Council in partnership with Newport Live and Newport BID.
