THE South Wales Argus Health and Care Awards celebrate the work of health and care professionals from across the region
The Hospital Team of the Year, which is sponsored by Chepstow Racecourse, will celebrate the very best work going on in our hospitals.
The Royal Gwent Hospital Stoma Care Nursing Team are one of the finalists. Their work starts at the hospital bed, but a member of the team is always available to help.
All the nurses are well briefed on individual cases and they link well with both doctors and stoma-care suppliers. They enable people to have their stoma fit in with how they want to live, having a huge impact on the quality of life.
Another finalist is the Royal Gwent Hospital Surgical Day Team. This team is dedicated to giving each patient the best care possible with the limited facilities available on the unit.
It’s a place where all team members pull together for the patients. They have taken the great changes that have been thrown at them and have remained positive. The best possible care is given to each patient whilst they are cared for on the unit.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Haematology Clinical Research Group have doubled the amount of studies open within the haematology research unit. As a team they have worked at developing systems to ensure they are able to monitor patients, study visits, developing a study database and highlighting cost savings associated with study treatments to the health board.
The winner will be awarded at a special presentation evening at Chepstow Racecourse on October 19.
