Last day for pupils: It's time to hang up the satchel, put away the pencils and banish the books for a few weeks - yes, it's the end of the school year and the two primary schools in the valley celebrated their pupils achievements with song, laughter and tears for those who will be moving on to new schools.
Cwmfelinfach Primary School held a special leaving concert for the parents of the children who will be leaving to go to local comprehensives from September.
The Year Six pupils were the stars of the show and they shared their precious memories of the school with parents and friends and there was not a dry eye in the house. Year 6 is shown with head teacher, Mrs Arthur and teachers Mrs Wheeler and Mrs Coles.
Ynysddu Primary School invited a special guest to their end of year celebrations.
Irene James, AM for Islwyn, attended their concert for the presentation of £500 to the school and £50 to Caitlin Murphy for winning the competition Read a Million Words.
The literacy initiative was set up by the Welsh Assembly to encourage children to read by getting them to collect' words they see around them with the aim of hitting the one million mark.
Irene was also invited to meet with the allotment committee and as a keen gardener was able to talk quite knowledgably about their vegetables.
She also was very pleased to be presented with a bag of delicious, fresh produce to take home with her.
