A MAN died and another was left injured after a car left the road yesterday.
The accident involving an Audi Q5 happened between J24 (Coldra) and J23A (Magor services).
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: "At approximately 5.10pm on Wednesday, 20th June 2018, we were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the M4 Eastbound carriageway, between junctions 24 and 23a.
"A blue Audi Q5 had left the road. The male driver of the car suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of Wales. He later died from his injuries.
"Another male occupant of the vehicle was treated for a minor head injury.
"Specialist officers are currently supporting the family of the deceased.
"Investigations are ongoing into the incident. Any witnesses are asked to contact Gwent Police on 101, quoting log 365 20/6/18."
A spokesman for South Wales Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service also confirmed they attended the scene and "extricated" two men from a vehicle.
A spokesman said: "South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 5:31pm with reports of a vehicle incident at Jct 23a, Magor.
"Crews from Maindee, Malpas, and Caldicot were mobilised and 2 persons were extracted from the vehicle and then transported to Heath hospital."
The last fire service vehicle left the scene at 18.58.

There were long delays for drivers as diversion routes were set up via the A48, A466 and M48 which rejoin the M4 at J21.
