FUN and laughter filled the streets of Newport today as people took part in the annual Maindee Festival.
The parade has taken place since the late 1990s and it celebrates the diversity of people who live and work in the area.
More than 5,000 went to watch a mix of performers on Saturday.
The parade started from Rodney Parade and made its way to Maindee Primary School.
Alison Starling, who is the chairwoman of Maindee Festival Association, said: "It has been a fantastic day.
"I think the weather has helped too.
"We have had an amazing set of performers and I would like to thank them for entertaining us all."
Claire Waters, who lives in Conway Road, Maindee, said she felt proud of her daughter for taking part in the parade.
"She was fantastic," said Miss Waters.
"She brave and confident. She wants to become a performer.
"I am proud of her for taking part in the parade."
Another Maindee resident Harry Hope added: "I loved all of it.
"I especially liked the music and Newport Senagambia Association."
