WE'RE BACK!: Members of Ponthir WI returned to their first monthly meeting after the summer break on Monday, September 3.
Mrs Jean Wiltshire, president, welcomed all, including two visitors, to the meeting and the usual business was dealt with.
Mrs Agnes Heath, secretary, read the minutes and also the County Letter, reminding members of forthcoming events.
Members enjoyed a lunch and listening to the amusing speaker, Jen Green, and her witty account of Aunty Mary's Secret Sife', from mill girl to model as L S Lowrey's missing life model and her several lovers, at Drybridge House, Monmouth on October 11.
The members then enjoyed a Harvest Supper, prepared and served by members of the committee. Mrs Helena Thomas thanked the committee for arranging such a lovely spread.
The competition was judged by a visitor from Australia, Mrs Heather Brown, who was on holiday staying with her sister, Virginia Dalgaliesh.
Heather awarded the highest marks for the best photograph taken in Ponthir to Mrs Nita Thomas, who was also presented with the Edith Evans Cup. The raffle was won by Mrs Noreen Connell.
After a very enjoyable evening, members were reminded of the next meeting which will take place on Monday, October 1, at 7.15pm at Ponthir Village Hall. All ladies welcome, please come along.
